Hi all,

i had a HA filler infected in later june, and its its now almost 2 months down the track and I'd say that more than 60% of the filler has been absorbed. for those of you who had HA injections, what was your experience? i was told by the doc that it would last approximately 12 to 18?

HA absorption rate really depends on individual physiology. The 12 to 18 month is an average range, some people lose it much faster, or retain longer. Best number to go by is what you experience.

The issue with fillers is that when someone says 18 months, it's more like they mean "up to 18 months." Everyone seems to absorb at different rates for whatever reason, and that's why a range is given to men that are based on averages (like 12-18 months). It's not the Doctor lying or exaggerating, he or she simply can't promise the lifespan, but can only give you an estimate.

If you absorb HA at that rate, you're likely to continue absorbing at that rate no matter which doctor or technique is employed. Your best bet is to move into longer lasting temporary fillers like Ellanse or Radiesse, and if you want permanent go PMMA.

Are you sure the 60% decrease is due the filler decrement? Mind that after the procedure there is some swelling which can even last weeks.

For me, I lost most of 20ml before a year.  I think it’s different for everyone.  I might have a little left but not much.  It’s a very individual rate I suspect based only on what I read here and my personal experience.
